Honestly!!!! I am largely unfamiliar with migratory birds and I was looking to see if it might be a rail or some other kinda bird. I have no clue what he’s doing here. I think someone played a joke on him, maybe slipped him a mickey….

Grebes, like loons, can't really "walk" on land or stand really. They just lay on their belly and push with their feet. Bad center of gravity they are designed to swim.

Certainly out of its normal range, listed as a rare visitor in Pennsylvania, New York etc. But what the heck, we had pink flamingos and roseate spoonbills sighted here in Wisconsin , been a strange year for bird sightings

It's definitely a grebe. Their feet are not webbed, but each toe is real wide to function as a webbed foot.
