You'll have a long marriage if you remember one thing. Even if they are wrong, they are right, and move on.
Give me a fish, I will eat for a day. Teach me to fish, I will eat for a lifetime

He had a good one she tries then realizes whan she could use some help. Best of all she wants to learn. A keeper for sure in my book. Even better is his willingness to let her learn on her own and be there to help when she ask. He will be a great husband and father.

That amount of wood is good for about an hour's worth of heat. To me, that's more like starter kindling. Need some bigger logs to keep it going. Hopefully, she won't kill herself if you left her a chain saw. Chain saws aren't for amateurs. it she sounds like she may fall into that category.

We had a wood fireplace. As the hot air went up the chimney the cold air came in the house to replace it. Got a propane fireplace and air going up the pipe is minimal but radiant heat is noticeable. She must have natural gas. Change out the fireplace!! 17 ain't that cold! That's correct. Unless you are sitting right next to the fireplace, it does little to nothing to heat the house.

Start treading. That a husband's job, to tread.
I know your generation has been fed a load of bull about independent women. But the Man Himself said they became one flesh and the man is the head.
That's not to lord over anyone but it's our job as husbands and fathers to put our everything on the line to provide. It is important to find a way to act as one in a marriage. To set down and put your goals together you want to achieve and both work together to achieve them.

Bunch of lonely old men on here it looks like, lol !!!
I can run a chainsaw, the big 372 XP and split firewood. Hunted alone or with another female friend for years. Husband is a must for hauling out game though on the bigger species. Been married 35 years now. Yep, I'm strong willed and independent also, husband is still by my side too.
So guys can't take a strong willed woman, some can. Have fun and good luck.
Fireplace insert would be better for heating the house. There's nothing wrong with a strong independent woman , in fact it's a good quality to have. The problem is with the ones that gotta tell the world every 5 minutes they are strong ,independent and don't need no man. The women who are truly strong and independent dont need to tell the world they are - their qualities and actions will speak for themselves. A marriage should be two equal parts - no one superior to the other.
