I keep having problems with my coyote sets. The coyote will climb on my backing(its is 2-3 limbs kind stacked crosswise) and look at the hole and the set but will never approach form the front. It isn't wind direction because it will approach from the front the go around to the beck and climb on to the backing. Now a bobcat is doing the same thing. Any solutions? TIA

I agree except it means I have to pound in 2 more stakes and bed in frozen ground. What is a good way to bed a trap in frozen ground? It is frozen at least 5 inches down.

… use your existing trap and remake the set with scent on two sides … idea is to get him to walk in between… give him plenty of room… I’d also try a different lure/ bait when you do this since it doesn’t sound like they want to work what you have very hard

I have some kinda canine doing that. I put a snare on each side today and camo'd them. Let ya know if it solves that problem.

Rake up a big mound of ground litter for backing. Make it impossible to do what they’ve been doing.

Force them to the front.

If you haven’t used any urine, a splash of urine on some outside blocking may bring them around (one of the many reasons I don’t like to use urine from the get go).

Yes, put something on the back side to block them, if I have a digger, the digging usually stops after snaring a female on same farm

If you have a good heavy drag and 10 feet of chain. Put two traps on the end of that 10 foot chain and put them right on top of the ground where the coyote is walking and cover them with just enough grass or leaves or wathever is at the set to blend them in some. Its the same as a hay set.

I changed it to a a walk thru and placed bobcat urine on the inside of the new backing. Then set a blind set in a trail leading to this set. Should have him in a couple days, I'd say.
