Just watched a program about hunting Sandhill Cranes.

Are steel shot required?

Read the regs. A lot of states it is not legal to hunt them. Ones that do usually a draw system. Yes steel shot reqd.

We have them on our general season for waterfowl. As with all waterfowl steel shot and stamps, state and federal, are required in addition to the state hunting license.

And, they taste nothing like any sort of ribeye in the sky as I have read them described as. Might be different if they spent some time on grain.

I believe all migratory waterfowl regs apply. I don't see any reason why they wouldn't milk every possible dollar out of it.

While I was in the UP of Michigan last summer.
I saw them in pairs along the road in a few places.
Don't know , just a guess they had a nest there?
Just strange that they were always in pairs , and in the mowed berm of the road.

We have a season in the past you needed a permit form to fill out no draw but they were gone by the time you get the permit picked up. Never had a shot at one ever they don’t land here much mostly in NE.

Was born in a Big City Will die in the Country OK with that!
