Imagine this goes over the breathing hole of ringed/jar seals was the idea. Those spikes would be slightly angled up so the seal could come up but not go down - my guess only. The spikes are pinned so that they can hinge up but not down. Cool system

I will sweeten the pot. I will throw in an unused copy of the Alaska wolf Trapping manual + $500 It seams to me you did use the trapping manual and did not like it. so is the $500 reward real? Or is this just scam?

I bought one of these traps but didnt like the agenda it was trying to push. Plus I was already a way better seal trapper.

There was a very similar contraption used for bears, and made by a blacksmith back east somewhere around 1900, they apparently worked extremely well and were outlawed shortly after. And the bunny huggers think our traps today are "inhumane". I was told that during the depression that guys would take a 55 gal.drum and cut it in a few places on one end and bend them in and bait the barrel. The pieces that were cut were bent inwards so the bear could stick his head in but not get it out.
