Do any of you folks cut these down on 1.75 size traps?

I have these on sleepy creek 1.75 os and only have 7/8" from the pan end to the loose jaw. I had a couple sprung with a little fur in them last year and stopped setting them because I believe they were toe catches. They are a nice trap and I would like to use them.

Any suggestions?

Might have been a roller....as in chin or shoulder roll on a stinky attractor? It happens...

It is definitely possible that those fox were rolling.

Do you think 7/8" from pan edge to the loose jaw is sufficient space? I ask because it's closer than any other trap I have as far as pan to loose jaw distance. It seems likely that the paw would be on the jaw and pan even with small footed fox with that little bit of clearance.

Cut them down. It will reduce toe catches and misses

Yes sir. That's what I was thinking. Most traps I have measured have 1 1/8" - 1 1/2" from the pan edge to inside of the loose jaw.

The stock pans on these were good on size. I just like the pit pan/rod dog for less maintenance and fiddling around before season.
