I'm a trapper. I'll start there. I belong to my state assoc, NTA and FTA. I've had a passion for it for many many years. I've have met great trappers over the decades several of which have passed on. Over the past year and a half, since I rededicated my life to Jesus I'm finding it harder and harder to justify what I'm doing. I know the versus that speak about man's dominion over all the animals on earth, in the sea and in air. I understand the managing of wildlife concept. I have always trapped because I enjoyed it, not to manage then animals. I was just wondering if any Christian trappers here have struggled with trapping and their Christianity and how us God convicted your hearts in your struggle? I'm praying for God to show me his will and I'll keep on praying. I know he will answer.

Im afraid I don't understand your question, there is no conflict between the christuanity of the Bible, and trapping, hunting, or fishing.

As a Christian, i can't answer your question as i've never had to struggle with the reasoning behind hunting, trapping, fishing. I believe God has given us all the resources we need to survive. Skins for clothing, meat, plants for food and medicinal. The problem is man has managed to undermine the will of God and instead of His rules, have made our own rules. It is an undoing, what's wrong is right and what's right is wrong.

I get it what your saying. Just like hunting. I don't enjoy killing. It's just part of it. I don't kill just to kill. There is still respect given to the animal and nature, for me at least.

Our Savior was a trapper.

John 21:6–8
6 He said to them, “Cast the net on the right side of the boat, and you will find some.” So they cast it, and now they were not able to haul it in, because of the quantity of fish. 7 That disciple whom Jesus loved therefore said to Peter, “It is the Lord!” When Simon Peter heard that it was the Lord, he put on his outer garment, for he was stripped for work, and threw himself into the sea. 8 The other disciples came in the boat, dragging the net full of fish, for they were not far from the land, but about a hundred yards off.

By chance what is the church fellowship you identify with?

I think you may be struggling with a touch of heresy that has infected many of the mainstream threads of christianity. Namely that the creation is somehow equal to or above that which is created in the image of God. Then somehow affording them the protections under Thou shalt not kill.

Never forget that God himself killed animals and fashioned garments for Adam and Eve. Genesis 3:21

One could even argue that veganism is unacceptable to God if the fig leaf garments created by Adam in verse 7 was unacceptable to God.

In my opinion if you are trapping/hunting and there for killing animals for a purpose, such as using the hides for clothes and meat for food. Or other crafts and not just for wanton waste it is acceptable in gods eyes.

It’s better to go trapping and think about God than it is to sit in church and think about trapping.

Christ once cast demons into a herd of swine which then ran into the sea to die.

Had nothing to do with eat what you kill. So we don't even have to go to "Arise, kill, eat".

We as outdoorsmen and women are particularly susceptible to the lie of the ancient enemy of worshipping the creation and not our Creator.

Violating Thou shall not Kill is most egregious not in the killing per se but in the killing of something God has created in His own image.

Which, BTW, is why abortion is an abomination but trapping is a benign act. Yet the pagans who deny Christ would have us insert heretical thought of veganism and anti hunting/trapping into christianity.
