Keystone, I made the table. It was an old wooden table, I put 3/4” plywood on top then 1x6 on edge. Have a cleat around the inside 3/4” down from top of 1x6. I think I got the design from the fha fur handling manual.

BP, if you can do em in 30 min it’s still going to be a long day, oh and the hand cramps.

That's a lot of work BP, the standing gets to me quick with my back. The surgeries I've had have helped but the arthritis will never go away.
I've tried many different ways of sitting and working on fur and just can't make any of them work.
I hear you about the hand cramps NF, when I get them it's all over for a while.
I'll be moving on to putting up skunks soon. Lot easier on the back and hands.

I don't seem to have any issues with hand cramps but I think skinning in a trough is easier on the hands.

Does anyone have the dimensions for the beaver skinning trough?

57 years trapping. It's who I am. Every day is still as exciting as it was when I was a kid but a little more work.

Yes, I clean skin but have done a lot of beaming as well. I just like the look of the clean skinned ones better.

Lance, I’ve got very little carpenter skills but what I threw together 20 years or so ago was this:

It’s 32” long. The V is made with 1X8” s. And mounted on a swiveling barstool picked up at a used furniture store. Important to get the height right for yourself so you don’t have to lean over. For reference that’s a 50# plus beaver.
The distance from one side of the V to the other is 12”

As you can see you can move that beaver around as you skin and it stays in position. That helps your gripping hand out.

After squeezing the juice out these castors weighed fresh came out to 4.5 lbs. 13 sets. I hope you're all duly impressed with that fresh weight...I sure was! It will be interesting to see what the weight is after 6-7 days in the drying room.

Thanks BP. I'll have to make one and try it out. Appreciate the help.

Hey guys not to get off topic but, does anyone have knowledge of any Finished Beaver prices recently? Even if it is by the pond, I haven't even seen any current pricing for that either?
Anyone have any insight?

Dale, I’m about to enter a therapy session.

What is this "squeezing the juice" business? I'm intrigued for sure!

Looks like you guys are stacking them up. Gonna get extremely cold (for us) in the next few days, think I'm gonna try some under ice trapping. Been weird here too much ice for open water, and not enough for under ice...we'll see what the next week brings.
