This last place I trapped hogs on was only 80 acres and only about 10 of that is where I focused which was thick brush. While I was monitoring the area I didn't see any deer only the small sounder and a occasional yote. I still have my camera in place just to be sure I didn't leave any behind. Now the deer are slowly filling in, So do the deer avoid the areas with hog activity? Just a observation now curious. I don't have enough of a hog problem to come to my own conclusion here. Lol

Yes. Had a stand this year and was seeing deer every time I set it. And had plenty on camera at the feeder. Hogs moved in and deer were gone. I would not see any while hunting and very few on camera after hogs moved in.

I have a lot of hog activity and deer activity in the same area. I have got pictures of deer and hogs in the same picture at a feeder - not nose to nose - but twenty feet apart. When hogs get really thick, they may displace deer - I dont mean displace them a mile away - I mean 100 yards.

In my part of the state - we had hogs when we didnt have deer. Folks ran free ranged hogs in the bottoms from at least the early 1900’s up until the mid 1990’s. About half those early years there were no deer. Deer were restocked with hogs already well established. My hogs are much more nocturnal than my deer.

Same as WC. Very similar history on hogs and deer. If deer couldn’t co-exist with hogs here there would be no deer.

Our deer are the opposite. I’m not saying they’ll leave the county, but you won’t ever get a pic or video of a hog and deer together. I’ve had deer blowing upwind of me letting me know hogs were coming. When I start getting pigs on camera to hunt at night, if there were no deer within a certain amount of time I’d leave the house because it meant hogs were nearby.
Between August 21 - Oct 21 I took 33 hogs and 13 coyotes night hunting on the plantation. Now I can’t find a pig on the place or hear coyotes howl at dawn or dusk to save my life. They’ll all return eventually I guess.

See it alot BUT like everything else in the woods nothing is set in stone. Notice if i have deer coming to a bait pile everyday if they suddenly quit coming around im probably going to have hogs the next night or day. Soon as the hogs are either caught or move on the deer start right back.

Coon's don't seem to worry about it, even had a dinky 10 lb coon run a sounder of 6 out of the trap last year, lol. They came back the next night and got caught. Coon just got cornered in the corner of the trap and flipped out on them, lol.

Around here, deer don't like being anywhere around hogs. Not that they displace them, but the deer tend to avoid the areas they are. When the hogs leave, the deer fill right back in.
