Hay sets work on their own for sure.I just find a little added appeal with the camp fire set.And the meat melts down into the hay once burned so is not an exposed bait.Keep us posted.

Add some grain so the mice move in. If it is full of mice a K-9 is going to work it.

Find a mouse nest for the ultimate hay set . Yes grain or candy will attract mice, but a rank smelling mouse nest is working immediately. My only problem with your set is where you put it . In my country it’s hard to get a coyote to work a set when it’s close to an occupied dwelling.

Good luck .

Hardest part of making that set is walking away from the smell of bacon frying. smile

My experience with that set was always hit or miss.I've had first night catches with it,I've had refusals.I used straw because of the amount of deer around here.I always used a bait like O gormans powder river paste bait, and a good gob of it.I've never caught a wolf with it but have had them work it.

Yep, called "Just Mice" I believe. I always thought a hay set would have a ton of eye appeal with snow on the ground and would be a Bobcat magnet but I have never tried it.

I have nothing clever to put here.

I caught a lot of mice at work. Froze them for one of our employees who has snakes to feed. I bet if I thawed them out and used them in a dirt hole or set like this, it would cause a ruckus!
