Might just sell off most of my guns. Don’t really have many left. Sold off many since I have become half crippled up and can’t hardly walk anymore, with out a cane. Have a couple of .22’s that I kept around for squirrel hunting, but I can’t maneuver around, in the woods, very well. I will keep one of the .22’s just for killing nuisance stuff around the place. I will keep my first shotgun, an 870 knock off sold by Montgomery ward. It is a 12 gauge and was a Christmas present from my parents when I was 12. I will keep a 94 Winchester, just to have some kind of, relatively, high powered rifle around.
Other than that I have a .22 Ruger and a .357 Ruger, that the I will keep. I guess it is always nice to have a couple of handguns around.
It’s a (This word is unacceptable on Trapperman) getting old, but life is what it is.

Hard to sell that stuff and admit time has caught you. Better to sell things on your own terms and get some spending cash rather than having them dropped at a auction when you go. It always sobers me when I see a collection for sale after someone's passing

Nice to keep a few around just in case I agree. Mine are all in my will and I'll die owning them all. Family members and friends that I know that will appreciate them will inherit them

Not sure if you have kids, but I started opening the safe and letting them pick for Christmas or birthdays. Only stipulation is whatever they pick can never be sold unless they want to buy it from me and my prices aren’t cheap. If they buy it they can do whatever they want with it. If it’s a gift it stays in their family forever.

I hate to hear this. If you were closer I would hunt trap and such with you and help with what you need help with. I will be there sometime myself.

My 13 year old has the habit the last several years telling me thanks for taking him hunting. My response is thanks for wanting to go, and remember this and take the old man out when I get old and can't go on my own. Maybe he will.

Good Idea to liquidate a lot of accumulated stuff when you get older.
Its not fair to leave loved ones with a burden to have to do all that when you kick the bucket.
I have started to get rid of stuff I no longer use, either sell, give away or take to dump.

I remember comments I thought and said while cleaning out my parents’ and parents’-in-laws’ houses. I don’t want anyone to have those same comments when I go.

No kids ?I have been giving mine to my two sons and grandkids over the past few years. There will only be four or five left in my safe when I kick the bucket.I told the two boys when that happens,,draw cards.High card gets first pick of one,,then take turns till their gone after that.

I got rid of a bunch of stuff, including five guns, when we moved. There was pain involved.

I did give my son a Glock 9mm. He doesn’t hunt but wanted the hand gun.
I gave my son-in-law an extra 10-22 I had and an old .303 Lee-Enfield that he thought was pretty cool.

Kids grandkids and one great grand daughter. When I tip over they will all get at least one. I like to think they wont sell them. Traps will go to my son.

I gave most of my, and my fathers guns to my son when he moved to Texas, he would have got them anyway. Most of them were basic using guns and I told him to do what he wants with them.
Still have a few left though, can't just have none! grin

besides mine being written into the will since my oldest was only a few months old

it specifies the GCP children are to divide them evenly amongst themselves at the time of my death and may not sell them , they may only give them to other family.
the lawyer told me that may not be enforceable but it does specify your will wishes

my goal is to give anything I want as I see fit to away to my kids , grandkids or relatives , kids I mentor , ect..as I see fit before I die of old age

If I die before old age the kids figure it out.

I think presenting someone with it while I am still alive but maybe unable on not needing to use it anymore and tell them the history and why I chose them for it , will be a lot more meaningful and won't result in just a possession but a prized possession.

Like it or not we all are getting older And father time always wins the race Almost none f us think we will get rid of our most prized possessions But unless you plan on being buried with them your other options to give them away or sell them I KNOW HOW YOU FEEL SSULLIVAN K Best wishes as you at least try to get some time outdoors

My 16-year old grandson is the only male grandchild on either side of his family. His other grandad and I will probably pass everything to him.
