a GOOD bullet in .17 is like magic.
Wolfie, best advice is to find a person with a stash of Hornady 25s and buy them.
Good chance you'll burn out your barrel chasing out other bullets with a slim chance of finding them again.

bucksnbears, what did you shoot for bullets? I have a couple boxes of Sisk bullets, a box of 20gr sp and a box of 30's. I got them in the mid 1980's. I pick up a couple boxes of 17 bullets at a auction too. It seems like they were 30gr. I can not remember the make of them, or where I put them.

Mark, I have had 2, .17_.204 s built. My main coyote calling rifle was built to shoot Mr Chan Nagels fantastic 30 grain bullets. Pure MAGIC! the other one was for the fantastic Berger 25s. Unfortunately, Mr Nagel has passed on berger no longer makes .17 bullets. Still got a small stash of both but will not sell them.

I could remember you had 17-204s from talking to you years ago. What kind of MV were you running. I should dig around and see if I can find the two boxes I got at that auction. Odds are good I will never shoot them. I shot a lot of those Rem bullets and different powders working up loads.

Mark, the one shooting the 25s are around 4350. The one shooting the 30s about 4200. Have you tried the 30s in your .17 rem? Most factory barrels are 1_ 10 twist and shoot 30s poorly. I'll take the 30s if you want to pass them on?

That is scooting right along. My 17 Rem is a 700 BDL. It has been glass bedded and a trigger job done by David Miller in Tucson. I never have shot any 30's. I ran/hunted with a guy that had a custom ammo shop in AZ. He was the one that got me started on the 17 Rem. He loaded ammo five days week. He had a 17 Rem, so we worked up loads that would shoot out of both his and my rifle. That way we could pass ammo back and forth and not wonder where it shot. We called a lot together. We did it enough we know what was going on with out talking about it. There was a lot of coyotes and lots of country. I will try to track those two auction boxes down. I am guessing they are in the shop by my gun show pile. They were on an auction I was buying gun show stuff to resale off of. I seem to always skim a little off the top before I head to the shows.

This above-my findings as well-Hornadys work great if you can find them-I buy everything I find-.17 Remingtons stone coyotes dead-unless you do a Texas heart shot then no. But for calling they are the best-and most the time you can see the kill in your scope

Any one play with any 14 calibers? I think they would be fun to play with.
