Just curious if anybody has used one for cutting ice around a beaver house?

Use them at hunting camp to trimming limbs in shooting lanes. Good for light work. Always crank.

I bought a small Makita saw for limbing treestand locations. I wanted something small I could operate with one hand while hugging a tree. They are a serious little saw and they sure are covinient. I'm guessing the bigger saws will respond accordingly.

I have a Milwaukee for around camp , never had to use it on ice though. If it gets that cold here I'm gonna head south

I have a Stihl. I've already used it for cutting my way in to a set along a gravel road.

haven't used it on ice (and hope I don't HAVE to)

it's nice to throw in my cab (no gasoline/oil smell) just in case.

For the price difference I think I would just use an ice saw. You don't have to worry about the battery dying on you.

I tried my Milwaukee once and it made horrible noises.I thought I wrecked it but it still works for it’s intended purposes.

Like buying a truck/ car battery buy amps not volts or bar length. Like going into a box store that sells a gas powered chainsaw with a 20” bar. O yeah 32 cc’s. Goodbye!

I have an ice saw for trapping runs at Beaver huts. The thing is wicked fast for cutting holes. Plus it always starts and the battery can be charged with a little Mountain Dew or Black Coffee !

Never used the Milwaukee for ice. Got a trusty Rancher 55 for ice.
I guess you have to chip a hole at the corners to get the ice saw through?
I’m tempted to try one.

I would say NO
I think water could damage the electronic components and short-circuits with Lithium-ion batteries is a potential pineapple grenade waiting to happen.

I have a Dewalt 12" that works great but never tried cutting ice with it. Should work though.

My neighbor and partner for most outlawing got one for his wife because she could never start one of his big gas powered saws. Even tho it was a nice Stihl, we considered it a gag gift until we tried it out. It works amazing well and we are constantly trying to sneak it out of the shed when she isnt looking for small jobs.

A little off topic, but my wife bought a Still cordless with a 3" bar. It is the size of a drill. The thing is great. I use it all the time to trim branches and stuff.

Gal I know has a Ryobi she loves, but it's the only saw she's ever had her hands on, so what does she know. I tried it out, and it works pretty well. She's a real fire eater tho, rented a lift to take down an Oak tree that died. 26" ABH I'm getting the firewood, and she freaked out when she saw a real chain saw in action. LOL

Got a cheap Worx brand from amazon that cuts and has lasted much better than I anticipated.

I have used one for cutting a spear hole in the ice. It worked excellent. Will get a little longer bar this year.

I’ve used a dewalt and a Milwaukee. I’ll be honest, I’m impressed with how they perform.
