Work with the dog if you’re going to keep it they have a way of adapting. Landowner that we hunted with years ago had one if he never said something we would never known.
It depends on your commitment the dog is what it is.
Was born in a Big City Will die in the Country OK with that!

I had a wire hair terrier i bought at 8 weeks old, he was deaf. I got him for a trap line dog. I thought I could make it work with hand signals. Didn't work out. I didn't figure out he was deaf for a couple months after I got him

Deafness onset as an adult can be anything injury, disease, hereditary or just old age. That ranchers dog was shot he said.

I've owned plenty of hounds that at times you would have sworn they were deaf. Hounds are all nose, no ear.
