they are kind of a mixed bag-we don't have alot caught to really have a fair steady grade of cat. Kind of a mix of Minnesota, North Dakota and North EASTERN Ontario cats. I honestly don't know of anyone who targets them here. I have personally seen some nicer cats but nothing to get overly excited about color wise. If we had a few trappers who learned to catch them rather than incidentals/by product of fox or coyote trapping then we would get a better picture of what Manitoba Cats would look like on the color /belly pallet. Guy sent me a pic the other day of a Bobcat he caught in a marten box up in a tree( 120 Belisle)-just saying guys here don;t target them like our southern neighbors do. Because Manitoba is mostly prairie out west and our eastern border is Canadian shield like Ontario( in the southern half anyway)-we get quite a mixed bag as far as colors of all fur bearers from Fox,Coyote beavers etc..

Can't speak for MB,but the cats I get grade Northern cat,a few go Western had one grade north central,4 graded Western.I flipped the cat's when I got home from the hockey game,boy's won 6 to 2.Later in the week I will post the finished cats.Only one nice one this year 2,3 bellies mostly,sometime we can get some nice clear bellies 1-2's with good spots.Have a great evening everyone.

Thanks Kurt,it was fun,haven't did that for awhile and Scott got his first, Big bobcat so everything was good other than we didn't get Scott his marten.

It's always fun to help someone get their first bobcat and other critter's,that's what it's all about passing it down just like you are doing now with your young trapper.

Picked up a red yesterday in a set I was planning on pulling. Rough looking guy as he was not only rubbed but looked like he had been hit by a car or something. Quarter sized wound in his shoulder and the whole front half of his body was brused badly. I feel I did him a favor.

Out of town for a few days, excited to get home and run a few traps tomorrow night

Good afternoon,we got snow again 1 1/2" to 2" hope that gets the coyotes moving,4 weasel boxes out still no action for the last 5 days tonight they might be hoping around.K9man this years cats are nothing to look at other than the last one,the BIG TRACK cat 51" is a red rabbit back huge cat with a 2/3 belly.When ever we get a nice sunny day I will take a picture of the 5,the marten's are nice.23"22"21"and 20" the dark female is the smallest one.Have a good rest of the afternoon everyone.

Rick, we don’t catch many female marten because we keep the majority of our sets in the air to try and avoid them but the prettiest marten we have taken was a female

Got my deer today. Just a spike but it's got a big body.

We had 2 out of the 12 on the ground,I like the leaning pole,keeps the mice and shrew from clipping the fur if you are doing an extended check.Caught one on the ground this year other than the one in a cat set with a 3n.

Just looked at the totals,we will be over 600 replies and views were 28,500,page 31 is right around the corner.

We caught one female a d 9 males, all on the ground. That seems to be the norm for us for some reason. Went out today and there has to be 3 inches of new snow on my line. Still patiently waiting for another cat. Plus it gives me a reason to drive through the forest!
