Basically out of my old stuff so what's a good one that can be had locally since we've lost our specialty gun shops?

dawn dish soap and hot water and a M16 cleaning brush and pipe cleaners the ones with the little copper burs on them from a smoke shop.

I clean all my breach plugs by tossing them in a bucket of hot water and dawn dish soap , let them soak while I scrub the bore then scrub the plug
some little brushes to get in the contours may help if you can't get the m16 brush in or the pipe cleaner , a gas torch tip cleaning set is also good for breach plugs and nipples.

after both are scrubbed clean of any fouling , I refill the bucket with clear water and repeat the scrubbing to clush the corosive salts out

M16 cleaning brush , is really just universal nylon brush but most people saw them for the first time in the M16 cleaning kit.

you still need to flush it with water to neutralize the ammonia but it does take rust off

These are pellet shooters. TC Encore and CVA optima .

We always used a red solvent whose name escapes me but looked and smelled like bad cooking sherry.

I run this at 10 water :1 soluble oil for what is called Moosemilk , spray on patch lube and easy at the range bore cleaner wiping between shots and running 2-3 a bit more wet before packing up at the range makes everything easier to clean when home.

after I have cleaned any breach plug or nipple it gets a little dab of antiseize on the threads before going back in the clean gun

permatex , napa , locktite all work fine

777 or pyrodex pellets , you can clean the same as real black.

I never used pellets but have used both loose and hot soap & water cleans them up fine.

you are correct but a breaks the surface tension of the water to make water wetter

Gave up that corrosive crap years ago. Blackhorn 209 and never looked back...

No one uses ballastol? Really like that stuff

I also dislike the smell and $ of ballistol so I use Napa cutting and grinding oil
