I would be very surprized that an avg wolf anywhere would be 125 to 150 lb. A 120 lb wolf is huge.

Montana Wolves average 125/150lbs hog-wash on those weights. I remember seeing the weights of 3 populations of wolves presented with breakdown of weights. Even the high artic pups just tip the scale at 45 kg and then they have gorged on bait before being darted Jake those teeth eruptions should show if it is a young of the year or not.

trying to see if you are all payin attention: Montana wolves they say average 80-110 pounds but I have see a couple at the door that went over 200lbs. in all seriousness most Montana wolves I have seen are a bigger than 80 lbs. and can get to 125.It depends on the food source I would think. The wolves released here were in the 75 to 100lb range.Usually pictures people post are on the larger size it seems.

Got any fishing stories to tell Slick The several wolves that went there from Manitoba were just like Minn wolves as they came from below the 50th parr. And they were skinny and malnourished from being in captivity .I remember seeing the tv footage of the release in the park. Everyone was so proud. There's a lot of stories on here so you should not have any problem finding some.

The largest wolf weighed in the Yellowstone area was 137lbs,your Montana wolves are larger than the great lakes Timber wolves, yours came from CA, BC wolves, you do have more 100 lbs wolves than we do.Someone was talking about a retired federal trapper,I know him well, Gale is his first name,1 to 1.5% of the wolves here in MN weigh in at 100 lbs.Average female wolf 65 to 72 lbs, average male wolf 77 to 87 lbs.It take's a lot to get to a 100 plus pound wolf, just like a 45 lbs coyote there out there, but not a lot of them.

If you weigh a wolf you have to be cognizant of its feeding habits. A big wolf can gorge 25 lb of meat at a kill. Pelt size is more accurate way to judge size. Similar to spring and fall bears. Same bear going into torpor in fall can be much heavier than the same bear coming out,but pelt size will be same or close.

So there you go. Rick is correct. The wolves transplanted here were from BC as far as I remember. The wolves in Montana are larger. The pictures I have seen this season in Montana are some pretty large wolves.

Pics can be deceiving. To some, the wolf in the video is a 65lb coyote……Nuts! You got giant yotes there too? On a side note, you manage to get some sets in yet?
We do have some large coyotes but I was joking about your wolf. Looking at the head on your wolf its clear its a wolf. On a side note no sets as I was only planning on trapping wolves and and that was shut down until January 1.I may be leaving in January for warmer places so not sure if all I can do is harass the Alaskans and some lonely wolf trappers on Trapperman.

"The size and weight of a wolf tends to follow Bergmann’s rule, in that the higher and colder the latitudes that they live, the bigger the wolf. Conversely, the lower and warmer, the smaller the wolf."
