Was going to set up my new traps with enough chain to set trap on knee. Then add MB crunch proof swivel to run 1/2" rebar for stake. The problem is new rebar is not round. It will not let swivel spin 360 degrees around rebar. Afraid cam action will let stake be pulled out easer. Could take grinder and slick last couple inches of rebar but then would need to keep traps with ground stakes. sound like PITA.

What kind of trap are you using?

Do you have any single or double stake swivels to add to the crunch proof. Here I have added double stake swivels.

I run the double stake swivels on all my traps. Can use 1 or 2 stakes that way. Easily fits 1/2 rebar.

I use Chestnut rings or lap links on the end of my chain to stake rebar.

Im new to coyote and was only going to use one 18" stake. Tried to pull some coon traps last month with 18" rebar and had to use a 5' railroad bar. if you feel I will need to add a different style stake swivel I will need to make a order. What module brand you suggest. If I can use one stake on double might go that rout so have option im muddy conditions.

I used to single stake everything but no more. Have had coyote jack a couple of single stakes out no problem. Double stake now.

Do you use two lap links if using two stakes?

Use 2 stakes!

Yes. I use two lap links or a chestnut ring on the swivel at the end of the chain.

30” to 36” of chain will stop the pumping action. I don’t use stakes exclusively any more, but still use a few every year . After 33 years of trapping coyotes, I’ve never had a stake pulled out .

Spouse tool a grinder wheel to our rebar stakes and smoothed them out just below the top nut, swivels work great now.

My problem is new rebar is shaped like a football. Swivel cam locks when animal does a circle around stake. After so many laps around stake gets loose.

We have some out on sets now, I'll let you know if they have any issues.
Not sure if he had to smooth out any ridges all the way down to get the swivels on though, I'm thinking he did not.

Chuck it up on a lathe and clean up the top few inches.

This. And double staking with 16" or 18"...3/8" rebar will hold anything.

I've found burying it under the loose jaw saves a lot of digging rather than trying to get the whole shebang under the trap.
