Got what I believe to be my new personal best buck this morning. Savage 10 ml2 smokeless muzzleloader. Best gun I have ever used. I can't even tell you how many deer I had gotten with it. Probably average at least 3 a year with it over the last 15 or 16 years. I would give up my wife and maybe my dog before I would ever let this gun go.

Shot a huge doe yesterday with my ml10. Went high shoulder and spined it. Son skinned and quartered it. He said when he skinned it the only thing holding it together was a little strip of meat. He cut it and the back half fell off. 300gr XTP.

Nice buck!

Curious if your using smokeless powder and what bullet. I too have a savage smokeless and tried A lot of different bullets till I found the right one, lots of trouble with blown sabots and other issues like primers.finally settled on the federal trophy copper bullet 44 grains of accurate 5744. Clover leaf groups at 100 yards.

Thanks everyone, I really didn't need another deer but am thankful I decided to go out this morning. I have seen a ton of bucks this year. Very few does though. I found 3 does dead in the fields in the couple weeks leading up to deer season. I don't know what that's about but it's unusual and hope it's not indicative of a bigger problem.

walleyed, no muzzleloader goes until Tuesday. Then it closes and opens back up on Dec 26 and runs until January 1st.

Yes I'm shooting smokeless. 41gr of 5744, black mmp sabot, 300gr xtp bullet and a Winchester 209 primer.

Gives me about a 2 inch group. That's good enough to kill a deer.
