I found a bear back strap vacuum sealed in the freezer last night. I figured it would be a nice dinner for her. It may be the last birthday for her so I wanted to try to make her something special. I got it sliced into pieces and seasoned up good with some good fresh veggies to roast with the meat. Going to let it marinate all day in the fridge, so by tonite it will get roasted in the oven. I have a smoker but there isn't enough there to do all that.

Gotta fella coming over this morning to learn how to prepare waxed dirt. He is running a few traps and can't keep them working good enough. I would not think of doing this with our temps normally, it was 23 this morning but it may hit 50 today so it may not be so bad.

Some were discussing earlier in the week about how it would work out in colder temperatures to wax dirt and peat. I will get some photos as the day progresses. It definitely will cool down fast after dumping it.

Seeing as I've never had bear I can't comment on the grub but I sure hope your bride enjoys it.

Ate bear a couple of times, didn't care for it. Odd tasting meat.

Cooked our bear back straps and veggies for dinner. Turned out well. We both enjoyed our meals.

Yes she did. The meat was a little too chewy for her, but she liked the flavor. It just took her a bit longer to eat then me. I had two servings of course. We still have some for leftovers today and maybe tomorrow. She has some health issues that hinder her eating and chewing normally.
