So took my lil fox pro out on my first stand today , read alot on calling ( yeah I actually read a bunch of stuff instead of watching YouTube, y'all should be proud . )And apparently making up a scenario with your calls is the best thing along with not too much volume and watching the wind so, found it little cross road type deal, pine plantation behind me cut overs to my 8 open field with dead piles to my 12, small pines with under brush to my 2 and a road coming out of another paster to my 3. No wind I could tell at all, and tucked myself under a pine with some small brush round me kinda in a shadow, sun setting on my 9. Placed my call in the middle of this little three way inter section like 30yd in front of me . Ran the devil hare ,so it would sound like something caught and was killing a rabbit, for like 2-3min let it sit for about 4min then hit a grey fox distress , really foxy place ( actually caught my first grey about 200yd away) and figured a kill noise followed by a predator distress might trigger something so they go " hay someones hurt after food got caught, mabye I can get an easy meal ) ran that for a few minutes then killed it for about 10 and juut sat and watched. Nothing took the bait from what I could see so then I just ran a Cottontail distress for a bit because apparently running vocals just ain't what somone like me should be doing , though I think MFK would argue that lol. Also didn't want to just blast sounds for a hour straight because apparently that's a big no no too. As usual though no dice , I've just accepted I'm either cursed or just pain bad at killing stuff But figured I'd post this see if my set up and sequence was too far off or what have you.

I raised a coyote pup up I got out of a den. Eyes were not open. Bottle fed it. When it grew up I would see it outside sleeping. I would try to slip around the house without waking it up. Not once did I succeed. Even though it had never lived a wild life. Not once. IMO the hardest part of calling coyotes is getting setup with the coyote not knowing your there.
Those who would give up essential liberty, to purchase a little temporary safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety. Benjamin Franklin (1706-1790)

When I was a young fella (1979 or so) I could blast a johnny stewert rabbit in distress call at full volume and shoot a coyote at under a hundred yards at every other stand. Now everyone is calling and over calling. Now when I call I blow a fawn in destress or a rabbit call for about 10 to fifteen seconds and sit there for a half hour and watch. I look fore ears poking up over the ridge a couple hundred yards away. The days of shooting them and having the slide up in your lap are over. I here guys running through three to five sounds on there fox pro's pretty regular. They all have the big speaker set up behind them. I have yet to here a shot.
I can't believe that cop put me in the back seat when I clearly called shotgun.

Yeah that's what I always hear , especially from guys out your way. Some gets a fox pro gos out with their half sites .22-250 and blares it full blast for hours, wings a few coyotes kills one they think their an expert and the guys who get paid to do control work have another problem, not a lot of calling is done around here though, at least on the black owned properties ( please don't take what I'm saying out of context here is just the amount of black people who try to do any from of calling is waaaaay lower then white people around here ) so I think I could get away with more but don't want to mess anything up

I start with birds first, then rabbits, and then howls. I wait 5 minutes then pups in distress followed by female coyote.
Repeat once then move to a new spot.
Give an illegal alien a fish and he eats for a day. Deport him and you never have to feed him ever again!

That's racist discrimination! (Sorry, I couldn't resist). I'm just kidding.... mostly, lol.

Lol But on a semi serious note calling , night vision hunting , predator hunting/trapping ( at least with anything other then a cage havahert style cage trap ) type stuff in general just plain isn't common in black hunting community. Coon rabbit and deer hunting with dogs , deer hunting out of box stands and squirrel hunting is considered like " the norm" Much anything else at least about here you'll get looked and and " o you must hunt with them white folks !" Didn't make you an outcast or anything but peoel tend to keep their distance Boy I could write a book on the whole white vs black hunting culture down here.

Boy I could write a book on the whole white vs black hunting culture down here. You should! I'd buy it, so long as you hired a proofreader to edit it first, lol. But although I was joking, I am curious, if a white person asked to say.... hunt rabbits or trap coons on a black farmer's land would he be allowed to, or is that taboo? There's a older black man that runs up and down our road with a mixed pack of dogs, mostly beagles but I know he has at least one bluetick, hunting rabbits. He's never asked to hunt our land but I'm pretty sure he does. He don't bother me none, I won't say anything because I'm mostly glad to see anyone still hunting rabbits these days.

Got a buddy who is pretty successful. He starts out with a fire engine siren. Let's it wale til the local dogs start barking and howling then cuts it off. If there is a coyote in the area, it will almost always sound off. Then he waits 15 minutes to half an hour then give a long locator howl. Works well as I have been with him a couple of times.
However he does use night vision and thermal. He is single with no kids and has ridiculous quality thermals. I can tell a deer from a vote at 400+ yards. It's the longest view I have so I have no idea how far it will "see".
How many lies will people believe before they realize their own idiocy?
