Put in 4 of these I'm calling bobcat cubbies. Ive read everything you guys do and try to apply it as i understand it. Not sure if I'm doing it right or not. I really need to get a few bobcats off my place. Let me know what you think.

Cubbies are a structure where the critter has to enter to get Into the trap.
Your set Is kind of like a flat set where the bait Is covered and the trap is placed In front of the covered bait. But what you've done will work.

Ok. Let me see if I understand. If I bought the structure out past where I have the trap, that would be a cubbie?

The cubbie is an opening they go in, step on the trap going in it. Bait in the cubbie.
Here is a cubbie we made. Trap is in the brown grass out front of cubbie.

It's not what we trappers think of your sets but more like what the bobcats think.

Best cubby for cats is the walkthru type (entrance at each end) fairly open with no roof, bait or lure in middle.
They are quick and easy to make in the pockets where cats hunt in thick rabbity type bush and look more natural in those locations.

I started to have success when I made more walk through sets than actual cubbies.

I'll make some walk thrus tomorrow. Some with foothold and some with snares. That's another thing I need to figure out, snaring! Seems like they get tripped but I never catch anything. I keep playing with the size of the hole. I'll keep at it. Sooner or later I'll catch something.

Keep trying and asking questions, that's how we all learn. I know I have built cubbies in squeezed down funnel areas where cats are naturally forced through and have had no luck yet. But my cubbies you couldn't see through so that might need to change because I have had cats check them out but always at a distance.. My best luck has been flashy dirt holes or snares in blind sets.

For bobcats try loop size of 6.5 to 7 inches off the ground 10 inches. Set attraction or hanging bait so the cat sees it looking thru the snare loop like a scope.

Well I put in 15 bobcat sets today. Did a couple like Bctomcat showed me and a bunch of walk thrus like Boco said and a few that are undiscribable. Yall say cats are easy, they better be if I'm gonna get any. I figured out today that I have no idea what I'm doing but it's kinda fun.

This is Virginia. If you set on sign you would never set a trap. I have 20 trail cameras setup on my property . Bobcats and coyotes travel the trails and roads. So I set where I've got pictures of them.

I can understand that. I don’t trap a lot of sandy roads either, lol. Sign is sightings or scat. They crap somewhere and if you find that you will catch cats and more than one. I try and find prey, find prey and you’ll catch both. Small pines with thick understory will hold rabbits and rats. Find a two track through that and you’ve got it made. My best set for bobcats is the perfect coyote set that’s set on coyote sign with coyote gland as a lure and coyote urine. A bobcat will clog it up almost guaranteed!

That's what I'm trapping small pine edges and 2 track roads. I used all bobcat lure and urine. I'll try some with coyote lure and urine. I'm getting excited just thinking about it. Weird, huh?

I would consider that setting on sign.

I think I put out coon sets instead of bobcat. Got 4 coons this morning. No bobcats.

For me I have to clean out the coons and possums first before I start cat trapping
