Cubbies are a structure where the critter has to enter to get Into the trap. Your set Is kind of like a flat set where the bait Is covered and the trap is placed In front of the covered bait. But what you've done will work.

It's not what we trappers think of your sets but more like what the bobcats think.

Best cubby for cats is the walkthru type (entrance at each end) fairly open with no roof, bait or lure in middle. They are quick and easy to make in the pockets where cats hunt in thick rabbity type bush and look more natural in those locations.

I started to have success when I made more walk through sets than actual cubbies.

For bobcats try loop size of 6.5 to 7 inches off the ground 10 inches. Set attraction or hanging bait so the cat sees it looking thru the snare loop like a scope.
The only constant in trapping is change so keep learning.

Well I put in 15 bobcat sets today. Did a couple like Bctomcat showed me and a bunch of walk thrus like Boco said and a few that are undiscribable. Yall say cats are easy, they better be if I'm gonna get any. I figured out today that I have no idea what I'm doing but it's kinda fun. That last sentence is basically my life's motto

Did you find sign and set? This is Virginia. If you set on sign you would never set a trap. I have 20 trail cameras setup on my property . Bobcats and coyotes travel the trails and roads. So I set where I've got pictures of them.

I would consider that setting on sign.
