So I caught a female coyote this morning and she had a hair-stripped tail,But all the hair was at the set, I've had coyotes bit up at the set but not a hair pile at the set, I put the death-ray to her , beautiful pale coyote with nice Montana fur , has anyone seen this? Dont have a photo.

Is the groin area rust stained?
That's a good indicator.
And scabs.

I’ve seen it many times Boco. I saw at least 3 this week with mange and it started on their tail. Not sure why. Some start on their shoulders some on their bellies. I’ve often wondered why

Everything the left touches it destroys

Thanks, I've caught mangy coyotes before but never had them loose their hair at the set, I ditched it anyway.

An animal with fleas will chew the hair off their tail like that, and the redness can be caused by just licking the area. Get a gun dog and look. Gun dog's will pick up fleas from all over, and house pets rarely get into them. A 'Possum moved into my barn and was loaded with fleas, Dog's sniffing around looking for it got LOADED with fleas and were 1/2 naked in a week.
