Great story! I have chased a fox with a trap on it's foot across frozen mold-board plowing with a .22 pistol in my hand. How I didn't sprain an ankle is a wonder to me but I got the fox and my trap back. A red fox at that time could buy 6 tanks of gas.

Ever had a coon grab the barrel, that was video worthy but I’m glad there weren’t cell phones back then.

I was new to the live market thing. I had pens set up for the catches but hadn't figured out my transfer set up. so I decided I would just use my catch pole and get the coyote In a NAFA bag. What could possibly go wrong.
Used my catch pole on the first coyote no problem getting the trap off and getting the coyote In the sack. Removed the catch pole and zip tied the sack closed. Went to re making the set. Looked up and that coyote was at a dead run still In the sack. It had a pretty good head start but I did run It down.

Yes, of my .22 revolver. I like to lean in close for good shot placement. A big boar charged and grabbed the barrel.

My daughter was with me at the time. The incident became a running joke about what might have happened had the coon got control of the gun.

Eh...wot?

One time a red fox pulled out as I was taking pics. I chased him across a frozen field shooting at him with my .22 revolver. I gave up after I missed him with all nine shots.

Eh...wot?

Just a kid, my trapping partner Jimmy and I were out checking traps when we caught a badger. We used to carry whatever we caught, plus our traps in a gunnysack. We bonked that badger with a shovel handle and put it in the sack. Jimmy was carrying it over his shoulder about half way home when all of the sudden he starts yelling and drops the bag. The badger is alive and we are hitting away at the bag as it bounces all around. Finally we got it dead for good and then we realized the back of Jimmy's brand new winter coat was torn to shreds!

I used to trap a lot of bridges. I went under an old concrete bridge on a gravel road I had mink and coon set under and found a motorcycle in my trap. Tire was caught in a 1-1/2 montgomery coilspring.

When I got home that day, I called the sheriffs dept and reported that there was a motorcycle under this bridge. They called me back later and told me it was stolen and had been returned to the owner.

I'll never forget the time my cousin an I were running traps an had caught a coon along a creek we had a youth metal ball bat for dispatch we each squared up on that thing multiple times just wouldn't expire we still joke about the zombie coon ...when I was younger for fun we would hit the back roads after a light rain with golf clubs an chase down possums

When my brother and first started trapping, 9 or 10 yrs old, we caught a skunk in a foothold. Now I don't remember if we heard it at the feed store or read it in a trapping mag but we thought if the skunks hind feet were off the ground he couldn't spray. Me being the oldest, I was elected to put this theory to the test. Needless to say our momma was NOT happy with us lol.
