I didn't want to hijack Turkey Time, but liver shots do the job! I try for boiler room or just off the shoulder but quartering away, liver shots do the job. My first Bow kill, a 3.5 year 7 point. Not real big, was a broadside shot and I i hit a solid liver shot...hey, I was shaking! I gave him time and found him within 100 yards of the shot i had a massive maroon blood trail to follow! This year I had a quartering away. Aimed for the last rib and caught center of the liver and left lung found him within 60 yards. 240gr Fedral Fusion. Id rather hit the pumper, but the liver is a good alternative.

Good deal. Have shot several deer but this was the first liver that I know of.

Nice recovery! I don't target the liver but never lost one when hit there!

Lots of blood goes through a lot veins and arteries in the liver. Nothing last long when it looses a lot of blood fast.

The only time anyone should intentionally hit the liver is on a hard quartering away shot.

swampgas chili and schmidt beer makes for a deadly combo

You have to remember that 1 out of 3 Democratic Voters is just as dumb as the other two.

Right! Small target though! Lol I was hoping I'd catch it on this shot if i missed the right lung.

Agreed, I don't target it, but it's saved me twice now. I was a little bit behind on this shot.

I have hit it often on facing and quartering to shots but that's just a by product of the angles and bullet penetration.

The liver is a good kill shot, only problem with it is unless the shot is low they tend to bleed out internally and often don't leave much, if any blood trail. I guide and have seen a lot of shots where we shall say "shot placement is questionable", I never mind a liver shot, I know we have a dead animal if they liver shoot it. Just sometimes I have to dust off my tracking skills because there isn't much blood. But they never go too far.

I bow hunt and a liver shot works BUT most folks don’t wait long enough to follow up. They bump the critter out of its bed and never find it. A liver only shot shouldn’t be followed for at least 3-4 hours.

with liver hits they get sick quick and don't go far if you don't push them. Liver hits are 100% fatal, 100% of the time.
