Buddy is asking for some help with this. His great grandfathers. Markings are pretty hard to read . Didn't wanna mess anything up so just added a little oil over the markings to make them pop a bit. Can't really read them tho. Bore scoped it and it's actually pretty nice on the inside

94 Marlin 32-20? It looks like a solid old rifle.

I have nothing clever to put here.

Yup, marlin 1894. That's a rifle, full length barrel and no barrel band.

The 94 was marlin's pistol caliber frame. They made them right up until the end.

The 1893 would become the 36 then 336.

There was an 1895 for the big bores 45/70 and 38/55. The later 1895s though were scaled up 336s not the original 95 design.

My favorite rifle. I just picked up one in 45 Colt, manufactured in 1997- the year I graduated college. I’d say yours is a bit older than that!! Great rifle.

Why do I carry 10mm? Because shooting twice is just silly.

It's a Winchester 1894 maybe someone can tell you the chambering. The original rifles were made for black powder cartridges. It was created by Mr. Browning in (you guessed it) 1894. It is now the Winchester 94.

I can't see by the picture, seeing the eye surgeon next week; but Winchester's where originally top ejection later with angle ejection, Marlins where side ejection above the loading gate.

Very cool old rifle. Lucky buddy for having it.

I'm just happy to be here! Today I'm as young as I'll ever be and and older than I've ever been before!

Definitely an old Marlin. Probable wasn't used much since the silver front sight hasn't been messed with. Early Marlins would be marked with Marlin cartridge vs the Winchester cartridge. Hard to see if there is a M stamped after the 32-20 (32-20M). Marlin did not want Winchester stamped on their rifles even though they were basically the same cartridge.
With Marlins, some of them wont eject the shells out. When cleaning from the muzzle end, the cleaning jag would break the ejector spring that is screwed into the receiver wall.
