This is the same sign I have hanging in my fur room.
Nothing like cool water crappie.

Jig and minnow? I never fished for crappie this time of year. Is it normal to catch them now?

It’s new to me as well gold nut. I have never fished for them this late in the year. I am running crank baits from shore. I’m at a customers vacation island home doing some seawall repairs while the lake is drawn down. I’ve been running crank baits; Rat-L-Traps and Storm WildEyes In search of the big walleye I was catching here two weeks ago. So far just chain pickerel, yellow perch and crappie bass.

Eh...wot?

I'm assuming you scale them and then fry them with the skin on?

Bass get filleted…crappie, no matter the size get scaled, gutted, head cut off, battered and fried. If a restaurant sold it, I’d be there 3-4 times a week!

Agree. Only time I went to fillet when the kids were little and I spent more time helping them and I ended up with little fish to eat

Thanks for the info Lug. Interesting they are hitting crankbaits. I may have to try that sometime.

I am having them again tonight for supper. I do not have the luxury of open water here at this time, One of my favorites.
