just had a pole building garage built; and could use some good shelving/organization ideas for standard garage/trapper stuff.

What works for you?

Thanks!

Build as many shelves, and as high up as you can go! . . . you'll be surprised how soon they'll get filled up! grin

Base to an old cedar deck I made into a parts shelf also check with Menards they discontinued the Extreme brand shelving you might find some on closeout it all depends on the store you can search the inventory of nearby stores.

What Vinke found would be the bomb. I had a big pole barn up in Kansas on a concrete pad and when a C-store got bought out I hauled all of their old shelving away. I used what I wanted, hooked my buddies up, and sold the rest for scrap.

You will laugh but the candy bar displays are awesome. Put gal jugs on the bottom shelves (they are big and sit at a 30 degree angle) then taper up to smaller shelves at the top. Cans of spray paint or 1 oz bottles fit perfect. That was the first set. 2nd set was for automotive fluids and sprays, then I used a 3rd for tackle and ammo boxes. You will fall in love with them.

I bought the place from my meskin buddy and we already put his wife's old kitchen cabinets in the tack room. That was nice too.

Good thinking. I always wished I had one more of those racks for the work bench where I model traps and made snares. Big bulk boxes of chain and shock springs down low and smaller box items like J-hooks toward the top.

hey don,,,hope you and the family are doing well. are your side walls or gable end tall enough for an over head loft? always nice to have over head storage for the seasonal type things. lots of good suggestions above.

appreciate all the replies!

A lot of good ideas!

I was looking at these https://post-rack.com/ but they're kind of spendy; and I probably don't need anything that "industrial" strength.

Tim, being perhaps penny-wise and dollar foolish, I didn't opt for the rafters rated for overhead storage. (probably SHOULD have gone that route. that, and made the whole thing BIGGER!)

I'm always looking for better ways to get organized, I use a lot or toolboxes for storage and I'm heavy into Milwaukee Packout. I really like bins and totes for trapping and standard garage stuff. I hit a lot of garage sales and when I come home with a bag of treasures- it all goes into the appropriate bin, working remotely on stuff is great, take what you need and when you get home there's a place for everything and everything is in its place.

It has its advantages of being an organized hoarder lol.
All kidding aside- it's about efficiency for me, I'm not running to the hardware store every time I need a nylock nut or searching coffee cans. I also have all my perishables on a Kan Ban system, so I never run out of consumables and I replenish when stuffs on sale, here's an example of fasteners and I run Lista bins for ferrules and all trap mod hardware in my fur shed the same way.

Depending on the size of your building, pallet racking which comes in many sizes can be used in a lot of ways.

if you have to screw them up any way why not 2x4 or 2x6 lagged to the side of the 6x6 then a 2x6 for a diagonal brace
if you built a jig you could probably zip them together fast and at a cost of 1 , 8 foot 2x6 each

you would loose a touch of space to the angle support brackets but save about 80 dollars each

There's no chance I'll ever be that organized in this lifetime. If I have washers in one bin and nuts in another it's a big success for me.
