After 6 years of trying our party finally got drawn for a quota hunt!! Granted it’s the second week, but still we got drawn, lol! I love hunting South Florida but have a love/hate relationship with Osceola’s. The numbers and terrain always makes it difficult it seems. Been down there before and in 9 days hunting 2 different WMA’s only heard one bird. Then again, been down there and got lucky drawing my first pick then drawing leftover tags on another WMA and took a bird on each in less than a week. Florida is the only state I’ve eaten tag soup. Hoping 2024 is a fun successful hunt.
Anyone else get drawn?

Nice that’s one bird I’ll never get to hunt most likely. Good luck

No draws but I've hunted a nice piece of private for years. Got skunked last year for the first time ever. Hoping to redeem this year as I had 6 longbeards on cam yesterday. I'm actually pondering making the trip for the fall season just for something different....... AND even cooler weather than being there in March.

Trash your goals and plans for life. Just wing it and you'll never be let down!

Wanna Be, yep, osceola's are a bird all to themselves. Known for not being vocal. Grew up in Florida and hunted them. Florida has a spring and fall sesaon.
If i wanted one for Thanksgiving. I would hunt a oak hammock next to a swampy area with my 12 gauge with #4 buck and sometimes end up with a turkey, deer and hog.
With Osceola's, lots of calling will spook them. Call little and wait and wait some more. Decoys are effective.
Just don't expect alot of feedback.
Fun, but, very frustrating at times.

Look up patience in the dictionary and they’ll have a pic of an Osceola, lol. Guess that’s why I love hunting Merriam’s and Rio’s so much, those birds gobble just to hear themselves gobble.
