I've had good success with Bridger#2's over the years both dog on and dogless. Like coonduke says since MB started producing them they went to 1/4" offset from the original 3/16". All of the newer MB bridges I have now have the 3/16" offset. It does take a little time with a file, but really makes a difference in holding strength, IMHO.

I am sorry to here if your issues with this trap. I set #2 dogless bridgers exclusively this year and haven’t had a miss or pullout yet. Mine are not four coiled. I am way too whimpy to set four coiled traps.
But seriously this has been a terrific trap for me for several years. Stock traps, not laminated, offset jaws, and not four coiled.

Money cannot buy you happiness, but it can buy you a trapping license and that's pretty close.
