Had a potential customer ask if I hired out for the winter, supposedly has a serious infestation of packrats and wondered if I hired out for the winter to control his problem?
Not sure how to handle this except to charge a set up fee and load up the 10 to 12 buildings with traps and charge a per animal fee. Not really crazy about tying myself up for the winter checking pack rat traps

The job of a Patriot is not to protect his country but to protect the people from the tryannical government

Per trip fee after set up fee, need to cover cost with or without catches.

Do as wws advises. Never do work for a set up and catch fee only. You will lose your shirt tail in expenses on many jobs bidding like that. Better to bid per visit and a per animal fee. You will have more time in that kind of work than anticipated. I would suggest a $3 -$5 PER animal fee. You can't get a Starbucks coffee for that now. I have trapped those buggers, they can be a challenge to catch them consistently.

I have always been the opposite.

But I am able to charge 350 per beaver and 175 per coon.

I charge 150 set up on coon, 300 for beaver and rats.

I do all my rat jobs for a contract price.
Golf courses average 2500 and up
Everything is above 1000 per week

You will make more money doing exclusion, but you hurt your business in the long run.

June/July coon are never trapped, just chased out and sealed.

What exactly does he want you to do that you wouldn’t do for a normal job?

Are the 10-12 buildings not sealable? Are you just trying to control the population? I’m not sure how “hired out for the winter” differs from, “Hi, I’d like you to solve my rat problem.”

I personally don’t do nuicance jobs during trapping season unless it’s a dire situation, here in western Washington I charge a premium on jobs compared to what guys charge in eastern Washington

Are you talking about multi story apartment buildings? Commercial retail space? What kind of property? Yes I agree with others either charge per day or come up with a total monthly charge you’re comfortable with and the customer would be likely to pay. Would not just work on per animal fee, too many variables to control
