Bought a gallon of Southern Snares' new trap dip (brown color) last week.

Dipped a few snares and extensions today. It dries quickly and one dipping left a good even brown coating. It comes in black and a forest green color, too.

There is no mixing this dip.....Use it right out of jug. It did have a slight odor, but after about 1 hour of drying, I can't smell anything.

Seems to be similar to Formula One dip, but not as concentrated as you don’t have to mix it with water. It washed off my hands (b4 it dried) similar to F1.

Durability? Not sure. Snares are one use so not really an issue. I'm gonna dip my 330s and supports soon. Will be able to learn durability then.

Btw...it was 67°F and cloudy when I dipped.

Interested in the durability of it. I saw it at the Tennessee convention and thought about getting some, but seemed kinda pricey since I already have Formula 1 mixed up. If it holds up well, may have to try it anyway.

I've used fmj and f1 and while they worked fine, the prices kept me away. Ace hardware carries a gallon of ace brand floor polish that i'm convinced after a few years of using is just as good and cheaper also. Just dipped a few traps tonite in a heated shed and they will get put in the ground tomorrow. Ace high gloss floor finish-22.99 gal.

For sure a bit pricey, considering it doesn't require mixing with anything...so a gallon is what you got.

I have used Zepp and more recently brown rustoleum thinned way down with acetone

Curious how this stuff you have holds up

Dipped more snares, supports, and a few 330s today.

Observations: not gummy or sticky; can't scratch it off with fingernail after it dries; coats new clean steel same as rusty steel; rust isn't bleeding thru.

So far, I'm pleased.

I've used another brand of dip that was like a membrane after it dried, you could scratch/peel it off (in places) after it dried. Also, that brand would not coat/color un-rusted steel. Those that have used that brand know the one I'm talking about.

I may dip a dozen predator footholds to see how it holds up. I'm still old school on those traps...logwood dye (after a year or two from new)...but I wax 'em every year.

I also logwood dye and wax my beaver footholds.

The main reason I use these colored dips is for beaver snares, bodygrips, and the supports...so they'll blend in.

Been using F1 for several years, but I've had some issues with it.

Good information. The one I've been using doesn't coat new steel worth a toot.

Those Black Widow stands in the pic were new and took a coat as good as the rusted 330s.

I was able to scratch the dried coating off a small spot today on new un-rusted steel that was dipped yesterday. It wasn't easy to do, but it was possible by scratching hard.

The instructions do say that for better coating: dip clean, dried, and rusty steel, but that it would coat new steel.

I'm unable to scratch the coating off of rusty steel or older galvanized steel. I'm impressed with how it has coated and dried. It has the appearance of Rustoleum/Acetone dip when dried. But the brown color looks and feels like chocolate milk in the dipping container, but dries slightly darker brown.

330s, snares, and supports to the beaver jobs by this weekend. We'll see how it holds up.

Very good on older traps and steel accessories.

Not so much on brand new traps that I didn't de-grease b4 dipping....lol

It worked good enough that I'm gonna buy another gallon. This time the black color for the BGs and supports.

Wonder how well it would coat over Formula 1?

I think it would coat over good....because it's more like a paint mixture.
