Does anybody here still have one that they shoot or hunt with any more? I see where ammo costs are very high. I was rooting around some of my gun stuff and see where I still have one! Mine is a Rem 600 and boy does it kick!

I like 600s. I've heard the .350 Rem mag was Remington's answer to the .35 Whelen in a short action. New brass is still available for it at around a dollar a piece.

I've heard they were brutal to shoot. If I had one of those hard kicking rascals, I'd get me a supply of brass and download it to around .35 Remington velocities and deer hunt with it.

Sold my 6.5. Getting ready to sell my 350 but I do not think I will ever sell my 222 600. It drops coyotes in their tracks. Best little varmint gun ever made. [Linked Image]

I have a 600 in 6mm. Absolute favorite deer gun ever. I lost track of how many I have killed with it. A 600 in .308 is on my bucket list.

Moosetrot

Fat fingers. 6mm, not 5mm.

do you mean 6mm

not aware of them making a 600 in 5mm and technically that wasn't eve legal in WI till 4 years ago when they got rid of the calibers restriction

I always wanted a 600 in .350 Rem Mag just to play with but never found one.
Those 600s have got cult status anymore and are all high dollar.

we all make them

when I had a discussion with the warden when they first changed it to "reasonable" equipment but were giving the >22 center fire as an example
he was like is there even something smaller that is a <22 cal center fire

rattled off a list for him like 204 ruger , 20 tactical 17-223 , 5mm ............

then I said and what about 44 rim fire since it is a rimfire that would be capable forget that ammo is a little hard to find.
the next year they didn't even give examples as it confused the office staff fielding the questions

he had a poacher by New Glarus who shot a buck with a 17hmr and it dropped on the spot his supervisor wouldn't let him right the ticket for insufficient equipment as it worked
got the guy for poaching with a rifle in archery season , trespassing he shot it on private land from someone elses tree stand , and a few other violations but that was one he couldn't use

I got a couple friends who have them for bear hunting. Nice short handy rifle if you want a bolt gun. I never thought they kicked bad at all, but I've only ever shot them at bears at close range, so it might be different if I was target shooting one.

I don't feel the kick of a 3" magnum when I shoot a turkey. Only when I'm shooting at a pattern board.
