Well so much for tradition. I grew up there and it always opened on the Monday following Thanksgiving. Haven't hunted there it a few years (obviously). There was a post here last week about traditional hunting on Thanksgiving has gone by the way for the most part. So glad I grew up when I did.

Yep thought I'd run into a bunch of guys Thanksgiving morning on the game lands hunting pheasants but I had the whole place to myself !

Yes after years of no Sunday hunting in PA they allowed it starting about 5 years ago .One of the reasons they gave for not allowing it was it would disturb the local homeowners .Well yesterday I heard 2 shots the whole day I think back to the 1970's and 1980's and the traditional Monday opener and when it was legal shooting time the shooting was almost non stop for the first couple of hours And that was before the start of the concurrent season when it was legal to shot a buck or doe through the entire deer season I ask myself all the time does anyone hut deer in PA anymore using a gun.

it is doe only during the late season beginning after Christmas. but that is more than a week away.

You are correct that it is buck and doe concurrent for the first two weeks of regular rifle season, been that way for quite a while.

Eh...wot?

The PGC has made so many changes to the game laws and season you need to be a human computer to keep up with the current regulation I have become the grumpy old man when it comes to al the things that have changed but not necessarily improved

I was out Saturday, my 51st opening day. I continued the streak of no buck on opener. I counted about 60 shots between dawn and 10 AM. Public land.

Hunted with my family saturday and sunday. Nice for my nephews to hunt all weekend and not have to take monday off. Only kids I saw hunting was my 11 year old. Guess video games and their phone are more important.

I hunt in Allegheny Washington and Greene counties in Pa. their are very few gun hunters! The game lands have more people riding bikes, walking dogs, and hiking than they do hunters and trappers.Hate to state this but it's a spoiled electronic lazy society, whose idea of the great outdoors is walking the dog down the street!
