Its even better if you make it the right way Whats on that plate is rabbit in a light gravy , not hasenpfeffer. But I am sure it tastes good as well.

My favorite meals "fried" rabbit in rich brown gravy with home-fries, stewed tomatoes and corn bread. I need to go find a few rarebits

Its my aunts recipe as best as I can remember it. contains vinegar, sugar, pickling spice, salt, cinnamon pepper and onion, with flour to thicken it up. It was generally kept in a big jar in the fridge. I like it.

There are many variations on recipes for hasenpfeffer. Many are handed down through families. Most involve marinated, spiced rabbit. Hasenpfeffer=peppered hare. Hasenpfeffer is not a soup.
