you can run 2 chokes , a co-worker with a Britney used to run an IC and a MOD IC was his first barrel.
it is a reason , not enough of a reason to make me not carry a pump with a full choke
it helps you look the part , you know you also need Orvis clothing also to do it "right"
oh also so you can walk around looking cool with your action open over your arm
America only has one issue, we have a Responsibility crisis and everything else stems from it.

When shooting sporting clays or loud golf, it gives you two different clubs. You might have a close fast bird and a long crosser in a double or true pair. Single barrel you have to pick one or the other choke. If you reload it's easier to keep track of your hulls and not have to pick them all up on the ground. I like shooting them. Gun guys like shooting purty over and unders.

Because quail plantations won’t let you hunt with a semiauto or pump. 2 shots are all you get, one to cripple the second to kill. 3 shots leads to too many cripples.
Granted I’m no quail hunter (I’d like to but not enough here to mess with it) but I’ve never heard of this before. Wonder if this is common or just the case at one or two plantations? I’m leaning towards it just being a couple of particularly anal outfits. I’ve looked around on the web at a number of bird hunting operations thinking about booking a hunt and I have never seen a requirement for a double gun only.

Shorter in general.About 4 or 5 inches for the receiver on pump or auto . I like both !

I have pumps, semi autos, single shots and doubles.
I Have taken the oldest beat up mix matched double hunting the last several years and an old 16g double off and on before that. Why becuse it's like pointing my finger and I don't miss with it. It fits me.
It was my wife's grandfather's he got at 11 and feed his family with. The forend is plastic and stock is wood. The wood has been poorly refinished like a kid did it. Has nails sanded down and clear coat over them and what looks like medical tape wrapped around the pistol grip where is been "repaired" .
After my wife's grandfather died her grandmother would only accept so much money from me. So when she sold things I bought them even if I didn't need them to make it easy on her and get the cash in her hand. To old beat up doubles we're from that time.
I took one that seemed to point well for me along when I shot some clays and was blown away how easy it is to shoot a gun that actually fits you correctly. Now I understand why people pay so much for a custom fit gun Besides doubles are just cool. Over and understand are nice and I prefer how they carry. If I shot shotguns a lot I would love a nice light over and under Beretta 20 with a stock that fits me. But the double triggers on a double are hard to beat. Love doubles!

What's the draw? Why them over a semi auto or pump? As mentioned, two chokes available at once. I use an IC in the bottom barrel which fires first and a mod in the top barrel. Two different loads as well; 6's bottom barrel and 4's top barrel for pheasant and 7.5's and 6's for grouse and woodcock. Also, I believe they handle better on typical upland game type shots because they are better balanced due to the lack of a long receiver like on a pump or semi auto.
Eh...wot?

No draw for me. I’ve got a high grade browning OU in the gun room that hasn’t seen the light of day in years. It will soon when I send it down the road.
I’m just over it. For you guys that like em, enjoy!
