I’m setting up my (I go trapping) app started listing different types of sets.

At this point I have 40 different types.
I’ll list what I have added later…
Who wants to name some or identify how many different sets you know…

There are two, blind and lured or baited sets. You are limited only by your imagination of versions of the two.

Tell me more of this horse shoe set off which I’ve never heard. Please.

I know a bunch, but I only use a few-blind trail sets (both on land and water), dirt holes, pocket sets, pipe sets, and dogproofs for coons, and castor mounds, blind sets, and dam breaks for beavers. Those will catch all the critters I want.

Most sets can be contained with the following descriptions

Hole Sets
Cubby sets
Smear sets
Blind sets
Flat sets
Mound Sets
Buried Bait sets.
Lure on a stick sets
Dam Break sets

Everything else is a variation on the above. Very few novelty sets escape the above.

What is not even close to importance as where.

Those who would give up essential liberty, to purchase a little temporary safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety. Benjamin Franklin (1706-1790)

One does not simply teach the blue bucket set. It must be experienced...

You'd be best to focus on just a couple of go-to sets if you want to be most productive.

Beaver: castor mound, channel, and cross-over.
Muskrat: feed bed (artificial and natural), and den.
Bobcat: cubby
Coyote: dirt hole, pee post, and snares on trails.

Different areas will dictate slightly different methods, however, I'd be willing to bet that the sets mentioned above, account for at over 90% of those species named.

You think 90% of cats are caught in cubbies?

Yes, in the north. Maybe something different in the desert states, but my point is, wherever you are, there is most likely something that works specifically well. No need to have a bunch of different types of sets for a particular species imo.
