Just curious. Thanks!

Just talked to my buyer today. Getting ready to hit coon next week, cats after that.
Looking better than last couple years for sure!

Money cannot buy you happiness, but it can buy you a trapping license and that's pretty close.

Grony said prices will remain similar to last year. That was an email directly to me.

My buyer told me on phone yesterday what his green skinned and his finished ranges are. Definitely up from last year a bit. Not much, but they are up.

Well I guess .30 from a quarter price is an increase of 20%.

Nobody quoting any real prices does not answer the question really.

If they were worth anything a guy could make a decent living picking up road kill.

Alright, we could (This word is unacceptable on Trapperman) about prices or we could stare at traps hanging on the wall and yearn for the glory days of high priced coon.

Here is what I sold at last year, all December 1st and later caught prime large and up green skinned coon.
Top was $5, from there it was $3 then $1 and rest at zero. That was last year.

I was quoted earlier this week on phone from same buyer top of $7 and on down.
Finished will top at $10 and on down.

May be up Pennies to some, but to me it’s up, there is a lot of coon around, and they are fun to catch here. I can’t get anything for any coyotes here, finished or green they won’t touch our dogs no matter how nice.

So next week will start my little line and will target what I can sell. I can stack $7 coon just like last year stacking $5 coon. It’s not $40 coon, but it’s still fun and I get to keep my land access if I keep harvesting their predator problems.

Does that help? Someone asked about prices and that’s what I am facing here for my market. I’ll take this over zero any day. We had one year recently where it was basically zero for coon.

Thanks all.

Jim

Let's see if I'm clairvoyant, coon will top at FHA around $30 for heavy, select, white leather, prime, 4X- A-B colors this year. That's basis not average. I think last May the top was $16 USD. That's not as much of an increase in averages, unless you trap late. Don't try to sell blue or slate color leather, it better be white leather.

I sold 12 coons to GFW today. All caught in WI, first week of the season. All stretched and dried. 2 @ 12, 4 @ 8 and 6 @ 3. Those 6 were blue dinks for sure.

Missouri coon are safe from me again this year, except for a couple pay jobs. I’m not skinning any of those.
Too many other critters to trap that are more profitable and for sure more challenging and fun for me.
And I’m not supplying the end users with fur that cheap.
