I had a dabble with the Banes TSX in a 223 rifle. I bought a couple of boxes of factory ammo and did some testing with them and was impressed. So I bought a couple of boxes of those bullets and no matter what I tried, I could not get them to group well. In those days it took me over an hour to get to a range and i eventually gave up on them. Now having my own range right here on my property, I want to give the whole thing another go and also try some 130 grain tax in my 30-06 and see what happens. About 30+ years ago back in Germany there was a guy that set up a small company that made monolithic bullets on a CNC lathe and sold them in small quantities. They were like magic on our eurasian hogs and deer. My go to rifle then was a Steyer Mannlicher in 6.5 Swede and there was nothing that walked away that you pointed that thing at with those bullets. IMHO if you can get them to group and shoot light for caliber at higher that normal speeds, they are the dogs danglies.

Inside say 300 yards just to name a number you can tip them over with a match bullet easy enough. The thing that I like about the copper ones is that they don't leave those little lead shards in the met that one has to eat around.

I don't think on deer at moderate ranges bullet selection is to critical. I don't like varmint bullets on deer though. Have to get into bigger tougher animals before bullet selection becomes important. It sure does. A guy at work shot deer for a couple seasons and the bullets he used zipped right through. No damage and long tracking jobs. He didn't know why. I told him and he switched bullets and the problem resolved itself.

I've shot Barnes factory out 3 of my rifles now and it's the most consistently accurate bullet across the board for me. It's becoming my go to load. Wanting to try it in the rest of my rifles. How did they perform on animals?

How did they perform on animals? Only took two deer with them so far. They were the LRX which I think are designed for a bit more expansion at lower velocity. They where both high shoulder shots so lots of bone impact. I thought they performed well.

How did they perform on animals? I would say they work flawlessly providing you got the speed. I shoot them out of my 338wm and 257 wby. Got a 20 plus sample size from alberra white tails to Yukon Alaska moose.

Mando- if you are shooting deer and antelope most any cup and core will get the job done. It's when you are shooting elk or moose that bullet performance really comes to light. The Nosler partition was born from the failure of a cup and core bullet on a BC moose hunt. Bob Nosler book is a great read on this story. As far as brand to brand difference, I think it turns into a Ford/Chevy debate. I use a 165 grain Nosler Partition in my 30-06 and have zero complaints on it's performance on elk. I have recovered some and the consistently retain around 95 grains and make a great mushroom.
Money can't buy everything...but, it can buy me a boat.

They do an outstanding job on game if you are within the velocity envelope of the bullet. They do like speed to work well. I'll try and work up a load for my 223WSSM with a 55 grain TSX that should make a lightweight deer rifle that is easy to shoot well.
