Just wonder as like have insurance next year early an get it done in spring , been very bad for years an worse then year ago which was totally shot at time. My tile spade is my crutch an pain every step with it even an slow going . Don't feel like do lots trapping. Took me a year to get back to walking. Some people I know were only down 6 months. Depends a lot on the person and how much physical therapy you do. I had gall bladder surgery 2 weeks after my knee replacement so that set me back 6 weeks.

Had one replaced twice. Infection. If you have any temperature, immediately return to your surgeon for antibiotics. Surgical infection can spread quickly.

Think fevers are normal, high fevers however are not normal. Anything over 101 I was told to call in. Coonman, I’ve heard knee replacements are rough and take longer than a hip replacement. But, do your PT and give it 100% and you’ll be trapping in know time.

My brother-in-law had knee replacement surgery. He opted to have both knees done, one after the other. The expected recovery time is around 6 months. The doctors advised him to start working on losing weight and getting in shape as soon as he started considering the surgery. They explained that being in better shape before the surgery can help speed up the healing process. After the surgery, they stressed the importance of diligently doing all the physical therapy, even when it's tough. It may not be enjoyable, but it plays a crucial role in getting you back on your feet sooner. Lastly, they prescribed pain medication, so there's no need to tough it out unnecessarily.

Have you looked into getting one of those bionic ones like Lee Majors?

Lose weight and that in and of it's self will help a bunch for a lot of different things. I've seen charts. where the shedding of pounds reduces the pressure on your knees dramatically. My neighbor's daughter is a PT therapist, and she is adamant that most of the people that have bad results after the surgery are the ones who don't follow their PT regimen faithfully.

Get your knee done, do the PT & shed a few pounds and the quality of your life will improve greatly. Best of luck.

Had both of mine done Feb 28 this year, was cleared to go back to work in 7 weeks, and I work on a boat hauling pots by hand. BUT, ...I did a lot of pre-op exercises, and did all the PT post op, and more on my own, and I had an excellent surgeon. The girls at PT were astonished I progressed so well. I waited over 5 years bone on bone before the surgery, so they were about as bad as they could be. It's been 8 months plus and it's still getting stronger.

I'd be hesitant to walk around in the water where I couldn't see what's there, but uneven ground is ok now.... Everyone is different and may not have the same results, the first 6 months are crucial, do the PT, if you don't get the flexation back by then you may never get it..

Had both knees done, I waited to long on the first one, and muscles, ligaments and tendons deteriorated to where it took 2 1/2 years to get back to where I wanted to be physically. I did the second one as soon as the pain began and before muscles, ligaments and tendons began weakening, I was elk hunting in four months and carrying a pack and rifle. Do the therapy religiously and you'll recover much faster. Stay hydrated, no alcohol and as little coffee as possible. It all depends on how quickly and how well you're hoping to heal up.

When I went to PT, the knee procedures were extensive and somewhat painful. Hip patients just rode stationary bikes.

I would say a full year for trapper. Get it done now, next season you should be good to go for trapping.

Had my first one done and went back to work in less than six weeks, should have waited 8. The second one 8 months later. The first one I waited way too long. Both were great decisions I would make again. Do all the prep work you can stand, hamstrings etc. Drop weight. Do exactly what your PT person says to do no more, going rouge will set you back. ICE is your friend!

As a trapper who gets down on my knees to make land sets, I am more concerned about being able to put pressure on the knee even months or a year after surgery. I had ACL surgery where one of the incisions was at the bottom of the kneecap to remove part of the patellar tendon to be used as the replacement ligament. That area stayed tender for years and really barked if I put any pressure on it. It has finally calmed down after several years. Knee replacement has a much longer incision on the front of the knee.

A fella trapper that I know had his knees done and instead of kneeling on his knees, he sits on a bucket and bends over making sets now.

Had second kneee done July 12th, first knee 8 yrs ago. Scare tissue got me both times, had to be manipulated at 6wks. both knees. My problem , age, waiting to long, and having my legs, blown out from under me in Viet Nam.( shrapnel ) I'm walking now getting around at about 80%. Bent 109 degrees yesterday at PT. Know several people, who were up and going strong in 6 wks. Even know fellow 12 yrs., younger , left knee, 6 wks, then did right, up going in 5 wks. You must do the PT 3 , times aday, do as your PT tells you, and I highly recommend a CPM, machine that will mechanically bend your knee. 1st knee took 6/7 months , this 1 guess 6/12 but I'm 8 years older also. It's a serious surgery, but already feel the relief of constant pain. I also recommend no trapping especially water, and muddy banks, you will have trouble being able to kneel, and walk properly. Good luck

The PT is critical, everyone I know that had the bending machine got along a lot better than those who didn’t, one man had it on one knee and not the other because of bleeding and to this day that knee doesn’t work as good as the other.

I will have knee surgery the day after deer season Nov. 27 the x-rays showed both knees were bone on bone I pretty much knew that as bad as they feel. Hope I can get both knees done as soon as possible. Those 12 hour days on concrete didn't help.

I don't kneel down anymore, it's not comfortable and I'd rather not take a risk of damaging the joint, and I wear knee pads on the boat for when your knee is braced against the gunnel....like my surgeon said, "as good as these replacements are, they're not as good as the ones you were born with" " but the ones you were born with were shot anyway" lol
