My Uncle Huey just gifted my Pop old AH FOX 12 gauge, but it has a big chip out of the stock (old chip).

I know with all the minds here someone has a guy that can fix it up for me

thanks Mike

I have a Stevens 12ga SxS that was my granddads which my dad cracked and chipped the wrist probably in the 70's and has sat in safes every since. So I decided to fix it and what I eventually decided was to restock the gun entirely due to the amount of damage. Though I had considered repairs and the company I remember considering was Swift River Gunworks.

My sister had a couple guns redone in State Center for my brother in law several years ago. I'm not sure if they are still in business, but they did a great job. His grand dad's 12 ga. had a severe crack they fixed. Daryl's was the name of the place.

I have my grandfather's gun and it's chipped, cracked, super-glued and everything else but I can't even bring myself to entertain the thought of fixing it. I want it just the way it is... with all of its character.

Anytime you are looking for factory wood, shoot me a PM. I have 1,000+ sticks of wood and may be able to help you out.

I have nothing clever to put here.

a picture would help

someone skilled with a sharp chisel may be able to remove the chipped wood , fit a new piece of matching wood , epoxy the 2 parts then trim and sand the new wood to the original contour

there are also some guys who use epoxy and a matching wood sawdust and make the repair that way then finish shape it and it has nearly original coloring.

the fitment of stock to action can cause such chips so being sure to correct that if it is the issue is as important as fixing the chip

I have an old Ithaca M37 that had the customary chip out at the action top of the wrist
I had it fixed by a smith about 20 years ago it made it another 15 or so years , but the issue with how the stock fit the action never really changed and it cracked again in time

with that having an available replacement stock years later that was the route I went it had no sentimental value to me

America only has one issue, we have a Responsibility crisis and everything else stems from it.

Find a copy of the Double Gun Journal, if it's still in print(?) and look for gunsmith and restoration shops.

An original A H Fox, not a Model B, is potentially a very valuable old shotgun. It would be well worth your time to find an actual gunsmith / restoration person to do the work. I don't have anyone to recommend, but an improperly done "repair" could very easily turn a very collectible, desirable shotgun into a $200 wall hanger.
