Great looking turnips. Mine usually look like that but no rain this year. Almost a complete failure.
swampgas chili and schmidt beer makes for a deadly combo

I planted brassicas a couple of years ago in my food plot. Included turnips and radishes. They grew great but the deer avoided them like poison. Back to clover for me. Maybe they work better in colder climates. I believe they need hard frost to convert starch to sugars

I planted them July 25th in one of my soybean food plots that got burned up in the drought. I just broadcast the seed with a handheld spreader. We started getting some rain and they did great. Everything else was dried up so the deer ate the turnip greens like lettuce because they hold a lot of moisture. They were in full sun.

I've grown turnips for 3 years. The deer here will eat the tops late February but I've never seen them eat the turnip. Same with the radishes. Clover they eat down to the ground so that's about all I grow anymore. Don't they just mow down the clover before it really has a chance to get established?

I just came from the store where I paid $1.89 lb. for some that were not nearly as pretty nor fresh as those.
