I was finally in the right place at the right time and had the Model 70 pre-war with. He was chasing a doe around the food plot at 125 yards. The Lyman Alaskan isn't as clear as modern optics but it still works! Now I can start trapping Beaver again.

Modern CNC milling may be able to cut more precisely but it can't match the beauty of times past.

Classy rifle, scope and sling.

basically everything in guns since 1964 and possibly well before that ,but that is a well defined tipping point at least with Winchester. Remington was the 700 in 1962 has been how much less machine time can we have can we cut a process , some time , cost ,cost , cost.

we can make crazy beautiful guns same as we always could but if the lever gun taught us anything the company selling the cheapest good usable rifle sold the most and dominated the market.
if you ever see an old add for a 79 dollar M94 and a 149 dollar Remington pump or 240 dollar bolt action on the same page you can see why one sold a lot more. people wanted functional meat maker.

That is what I use on all of my rifles.....because I never use the sling. It is there in case I ever need it but it is cinched up, out of the way and pads the forearm when I lay it on a rest.

that is what Hunter refers to as the carry strap

the sling is the 1917 pattern

That isn't what I use and don't care for the military style slings. These have a buckle that slides to adjust length. I just always have them cinched up and out of the way. You can adjust it with one hand.

I see H buckle not frogs

not a lot of H buckle and leather out there I found this one from Turner

https://turnersaddlery.com/ts/product/gp-tactical-sling/

not sure why they call it a tactical sling but they call it that , I supposed because it has quick disconnect options which could just not be used.
