I know a lot of people that are still working in their mid 60's. Most have more money than they will ever spend but just can't give up their status and don't believe someone else could do their job better than them.

That is why many people just can't give up their career. Their job is their identity and are afraid to lose it. I will say if that makes them happy they need to keep doing what makes them happy.

The one thing I have always told myself, I would never be one of the oldest persons still working at my place of my employment and I would never want to die still in the harness.

Life is short and when one gets in that 4th quarter you can see the end is near.

To years ago but really one year, I went back last year twice when asked and bribed. This year I am done, had to go due to a health insurance policy change. So truly my first year, and have no regrets, crazy busy spend getting caught up with so many things, and spending every day with Kathy is awesome. Leaving in 18 hours for Ontario deer hunt.

First retirement from the army 16 years ago, second retirement this past January. I'm alot busier than I thought I'd be but I'm loving it so far.

I got myself a seniors' GPS.
Not only does it tell me how to get to my destination,
it tells me why I wanted to go there.

6 1/2 years ago for me. Mandatory retirement at 60. I'd had enough of the government anyway

My wife will be satisfied if I just work 'til noon on the day of my funeral...I however think a little differently

20 years ago, I would highly recommend it! Really started to slow down after 70!

Retired a year ago this December. The problem as I see it is, there aren't enough hours in a day.

A gun is like a parachute. If you need one, and don't have one, you'll probably never need one again.

I used to say I’d retire at 55, then it was 60. I’m 55 now and doubt I’ll retire at 60, lol. I just can’t see giving up the money for what I actually do and all the liberties and benefits I have with my job. I don’t do anything overly physical. I’m not in the elements. I work with great people. I do whatever I want even with a job.
Now if things somehow change for the worse in the coming years, then yeah, I’ll reconsider the 60 age again. But, for now I don’t have a date in mind. Guess it’s different when you actually enjoy your job.

it'll be 17 years at the end of this year, I retired at 50.
The stress was taking a toll, I'll bet if I didn't retire I'd be a mess.

When people find out I owned my own business they usually will comment on how nice that probably was.
I always tell them "yeah, it was great except for 2 things".
"If I could of gotten rid of those 2 things it would of been perfect".
After they ask what the 2 things are I tell them.
"customers and employees, get rid of those and owning a business is great".

Retired the last time at 66 will be 10 years January 2nd. Not only does time fly, most things I do take twice as long so time goes by quickly.
