I think that's what the dogs think.

Especially qhen they're sharing the dog bed in front of the fire with her,lol

Henny is 7 years old and has arthritis pretty bad so she's now my house pet, lol.

I have to give her warm baths and blow dry dry with the hair dryerher about 3 times a week to help her stay limber but I don't mind.

She's a sweetie.

I doctored her for 9 months 4 or 5 years ago after a fox got ahold of her and took a bite out of her back and side.

When the fox got her she had disappeared for 4 days and I told Jerry something got her but one morning I opened up the door and she was standing on the stoop asking for help.

I always liked her but since that day we've had a special bond and I'll do whatever I can do within reason to help her live as long as she can as long as she's not suffering.

She occasionally still lays me an egg.

I know I sound nuts but I love her and it's gonna be real hard when she passes on.

If its warm i put her out to enjoy the sunshine but for the most part she hangs out with the hounds and they except her and don't give her any problem but they run all the others off the porch the minute the set a toe on it.lol

They know she's special.

I'm sure Jerry thinks I'm crazy but he puts up with my quirks and I put up with his,lol

Do any of yall have a pet that most people dont have?

If you do I'd like to see pics.

Or just pics of your pets in general.

Thanks for looking.

That's pretty awesome. As I get older I seem to be getting softer for critters that are in need. For 50 years, I was under the impression I hated cats, but now have 3, that I found as kittens at different times over the past couple years. Maybe i'm going bonkers.

Our dogs all died and a couple cats showed up. Who would have thought. What has happened to us old folks. I guess we are getting soft and aren't racists after all.

She isn't litter rained and although chickens are usually indiscriminate poopers she isn't.

She is 95 percent pad trained, like a dog.

She's very gentle and I swear I think she knows of she doesn't go there she's gonna be in trouble le.

I place her on The pad during the day, same as you would a pup and 99% of the time she will use it for her bathroo..

Im.not saying she doesn't occasionally have an accident but they're usually my fault because I've took her off schedule cause im not home or something like that.

I have a wire dog kennel.that I put her in if im gonna be gone all day.

And it's always a treat when she's lays an egg, they're getting farther between but she still.lays one now.and then.

What's funny is that I had to doctor her for almost 9 months and during that time.she didn't lay one egg and the day I turned her out she layer an egg.

Im not kidding I was shocked, I truly think she was thanking me for saving her life.

I don't know how much longer she will live but I can promise you she will be absolutely doted on until she draws her last breath.

I love her.

She even sets on my lap and sleeps while I'm watching TV.

I think we do get a little soft as we get older, but I think that's ok.

Henny passed away in my arms at 5:54 this morning.

I believed she waited on me to pass so that i could cradle her on her passing.

I'm bawling like a baby. Yall ca say what you want to. I loved her.

To most I sound crazy I know, but she held and will hold a special.place in my heart.

She was docile,loving,sweet,trusting,smart and spirited.

I considered her a friend. She trusted me to take care of her completely.

I'll miss her everyday.

RIP Henny,...you may have been "just. A Chicken" but you were my friend and I loved you and I'll miss you dearly.

Are you preparing a special place for the chicken Cathryn?

I have picked out a spot that gets some early morning sun for her final resting place.
Jerry is going to dig her grave for me this evening when he gets home from work.

Scuba..I have seen your posts and do believe you understand.

I know that feeling for the wee ones all too well. I'm sorry. Chooks can be hard to diagnose at times.

She was over 7yrs old. I believe her body just gave out.

I've been babying her for about 4 to 5 months.

I do believe she'd have been dead 3.or 4 months ago if I hadn't.

I did all I could do for her and she didn't appear to be suffering as if in pain.

She was just old and she had a good life.

I'm glad I was holding her when she passed.

She was a good hen and deserved for me to be with her when she drew her last breath.

I feel as if i comforted her and I really really do think she waited to die until I was holding and petting her.

It's hard but I'm looking the flock over for a hen half as sweet as he is to make my pet but I haven't found her yet.

I'm not replacing Henny but even though it hurts to have her die I really have good memories of our strange friendship and I want that again.

Even if it hurts in the end, somewhere down the road.

We just doctored up a 6 month old chicken....it was wheezing while breathing...my son noticed it. He had some of this liquid ..Vicks vapor rub smelling stuff. We rubbed some on her chest...next day ..good as new
