My first 6 joule fencer Zareba lasted 15 years because of Extra ground rods, Lightning diverters and "Storm guard" added attachment

second one lasted only 5yrs Same fenceline Box must not be made the same.

Vinke nailed it. Water the ground and then watch how much respect your cattle can give it!

Also, if you keep them in a hot wire or reinforce the existing fence with a hot wire, make sure they have some sort of scratching post or they might run the siding off a barn.

I added a " Extra Blitzer box " running only Wire around Bales. so Snowload won't affect the bale protection. Used only the Same Ground wire.

I guess cattle are dumber than horses, grin

When we had our place I used a inexpensive battery charger with one hot wire (twine) to divide the pastures. One hit of that baby charger was all it took, they'd turn themselves inside out not to hit that wire when fooling around.
Even if the charger was off they wouldn't dare to give it a go, lol....

Yeah weaning time is a big time stress. I might chance a fence for the right bait- I'm what you call a robber calf LOL
