You'd think that the first little splash of brackish water and they'd brown up and die with in the day.

potatoes in half 55 gal plastic drums work pretty good and tomatoes and sweet peppers in pots I have done as well in the past when we were at anchor. But you are a bit late in the season for any of that .

really just container gardening that is going to have a lot of sustained 10knot wind

might want to set up a little compost operation

greens would be a very good choice like Chard a few plants would grow enough to be spilling out of a container like that and down there grow almost year round.

maybe some herbs

America only has one issue, we have a Responsibility crisis and everything else stems from it.

What's really worth doing before I forget are herbs like parsley, chives , basil and rosemary and such ... I did them in window boxes on the top deck ........ Spuds done in the oven with bacon and rosemary ...easy to make and tastes great

Michael, when I lived in the Keys (FLA), I knew some folks right on the gulf side, who had tomatoes planted in the sand, very near the beach. They absorbed the salt right from the ocean sand and tasted great. Didn't need to salt them ! I like the herb idea. Always a need for those.

Last spring, a tomato seed, likely from a bird crapping it out, landed on enough dirt in the back of my S-10 to sprout and take root, Left it alone and it produced 8 tomato's so far with 6 green ones still going. Lot's of folk's have been watching it with great amusement!

Check out global bucket method. Uses 2 buckets each plant. Portable enough to be able to move inside when a frost threatens.
