Hi folks! I am looking at solutions for softening my hides. I am insistent on using natural, biodegradable products to tan my pelts. I was looking at equipment for softening the leather side of my pelts and found a brush machine. It said it is the best solution for softening the leather side of my pelts. I use salt/ alum pickle/ tan and finish the tan with homemade soap and sulfated neatsfoot oil. I have 29 muskrat pelts to break and I have been staking them. Has anyone used a mechanical brush for breaking tanned pelts for sewing? I guess I am looking for a solution to softening alum tanned hides that doesn't involve manual breaking. Thanks!
