Do any of you cold weather guys run these? I have a 2007 model year 115 hp on a big water duck boat. It works great during summer and early fall. But when it gets down around 10 degrees, it gives a “no oil” light and goes into limp mode.

Will running XD100 oil help with this issue? I’ve heard that but thought some of you might know (or have other solutions). All thought/experiences/opinions are welcomed.

Not an ETec, but similar with a Yamaha.
I had an alarm that would go off at about 34° ambient or lower temperature, but not when the air temperature was warmer.
I found that there was a screen in the oil reservoir that had accumulated a funky sludge from the Yamalube two cycle oil. After cleaning that screen no more alarm.

I run a 250 E-Tec with XD-100 and I have had no issues, previously with the same boat I ran a 250 Evinrude FICHT with aftermarket oil and I had the same issue you described. I'm not sure if it was the viscosity of the oil in colder temps but it would seem like an air bubble would create an out of oil run condition, it also happen more when I was trying to get on plane. Worth a try.

It is the viscosity of the oil. The 150 and 115 Evenrudes on the two church boats don't like it colder than 34 degrees. I run 100 percent synthetic as well.

Thanks guys. I’ll make the switch to synthetic and check for an oil screen tha could be fouled.

If your using synthetic oil, make sure the level is full or slightly above full. Synthetic is so thin the oil shut off thinks there is not enough oil, when there really is enough oil. Just add a little bit over full and you should be fine. Most every new motor has a sensor now. You just have to fool the sensor. If it's just barely off, won't start or will just stop when the oil shut off thinks there is not enough oil, it will shut down the motor before there is damage. Keep it full and or slightly over and you should be fine.

My Super Wide will pull your broken down 4 stroke, up a hill backwards, with you on it!
