Anybody growing it?
Not me couldn’t find it- looked under Native American Corn, Indigenous People Corn… Had to go with Ornamental Corn….

I never have as I always plant sweet corn and didn't want them crossing.

What do you plan to do with it? Sell it? Grind it? Popcorn?

Just a small plot for Fall decorations for the ladies

I don't grow it but I like displaying it, I think it adds a nice rustic touch. I had a couple bunches hanging on the walls at my cabin. The mice cleaned me out.

The wife grows some Painted Hills ( Indian sweet corn ) and some Painted Mountain ( Indian field corn) They taste good and have a shorter growing season so that works better where were at, otherwise we're too short a season for corn

Look up white corn that may lead to Native American corn. I saw it growing on the Onieda Reservation when we toured their farms. Lower yielding and mostly ground into flour. Quite different nutritional characteristics as well.

There are several cultivars out there. Some legit heirloom saved by tribal members, some recreated from available seed sources and a whole lot of fanciful named "indian" corns.

Much of it are corn types not commonly grown these days like the gourdseed and flint types. Most of those were/are flour or meal types or are processed to make hominy or soaked in lye. The lye process is nixtamalization and actually makes the dried corn more nutritious by breaking down and freeing up vitamins for digestion.

Sweet corns, BTW, are a recent development in the long history of corn domestication only popping up in the early 1700s so any indian sweet corn is questionable.

Harvest time- ended up doing better than expected with some nice colors.

Very nice! I don’t think ours was Indian corn, but we grew what is called bloody butcher. Made a decent harvest and turned a good amount of cornmeal and grits out of ours

My chickens seem to like the smaller, more rounded kennels of ornamental corn.

Good to know- my wife liked that color the best and probably had the least of it in our mix.

I have grown several types of open pollinated corn, growing pencil cob this year as it makes the best meal. I have some white corn one of the Cherokee gave me, he said his family had grown it for close to 200 years, make really good hominy. Also grow ornamental Indian corn also, not the best for corn meal though. Mike

Do a google search for "glass gem corn seeds", you won't find prettier corn.

I used to grow a flour corn named Mandan, same colors as ornamental corn....
